Jonathan Campbell

LLB (Hons) Solicitor Advocate, Director

Position

Specialising in criminal law Jonathan appears regularly in Sheriff Courts across Scotland in Summary and Sheriff and Jury cases. Jonathan has expertise in conducting trials for a wide range of allegations from road traffic offences to more serious allegations which are tried before a jury. Jonathan provides a considered and discrete approach to cases and has effectively defended those for whom a criminal conviction would have a negative impact on their employment, education or family life. In addition, Jonathan has significant experience of preparing complex cases in the High Court of Justiciary.

In 2017 Jonathan qualified as a Solicitor Advocate which granted him rights of audience in the High Court of Justiciary. Since becoming a Solicitor Advocate Jonathan has been instructed as Junior Counsel in High Court trials for offences including murder and contraventions of the Misuse of Drugs Act. Jonathan has conducted appeals against sentence in the Sheriff Appeal Court and High Court.

 

Since 2018 Jonathan has been employed by the University of Edinburgh as at tutor in Criminal Court Practice on the Diploma In Professional Legal Practice.

Cameron Tait

LLB (Hons) Solicitor Advocate, Director

Position

Cameron has 16 years of court experience specialising in criminal law. Cameron shares responsibility of managing and overseeing the firm’s Summary and Sheriff and Jury business alongside Jonathan Campbell.

Mainly based at Edinburgh Sheriff Court Cameron also frequently appears in criminal cases at sheriff courts all over Scotland. As a Solicitor Advocate Cameron has recently been instructed as Junior Counsel in High Court Trials for offences including murder, serious drugs offences and rape. In recent years has been instructed in numerous appeals against both conviction and sentence.

Cameron delivers effective and discrete representation. He frequently takes forward referrals from corporate firms with clients whose livelihood is threatened by criminal allegations.
